“The Nick Cannon Show” Gets Canned
Bad news for Nick Cannon, as his eponymous talk show has been cancelled after only one season.
Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, co-presidents of the show’s producer-distributor, Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury, revealed on Wednesday, 9 March, that they were pulling the plug on “The Nick Cannon Show”, just six months after being on the air.
“It’s never easy to cancel a production with clear potential,” they said. “We plan to offer viewers original episodes of the daytime talk show through the remainder of this season. Our thanks go to the very talented Nick Cannon and our wonderful production team, and we wish Nick continued success with his many hit ventures.”
The 41-year-old comedian bagged the talk show gig in 2021 after he impressed TV executives when he filled in for an ailing Wendy Williams on her talk show in 2019.
“The Nick Cannon Show” is scheduled to run until May, after which it may potentially be replaced by singer Jennifer Hudson’s own talk show.
